Japan Travel Basics
Dining out in Japan
Many restaurants in Japan only accept cash, so be sure to check before you enjoy a meal. Most restaurants do not provide napkins, but many do provide a damp towel to clean your hands before you eat. For more casual places, you will get a disposable wet wipe to use instead of a napkin.
We found a majority of restaurants to be very kid-friendly as well, providing cute dishes, silverware, and coloring pages or toys for them.
Transportation Tips
Public Transportation: Japan is well connected with public transportation, so in most areas having a rental car is not necessary. Check out more public transportation tips HERE.
Driving in Japan: If you do choose to rent a car, keep in mind that you will need an international driver’s permit. Also keep in mind that the steering wheel of the car is on the right, and the direction of the road is reversed from the US and most European countries.
