Best Apps for Paris Travel (2025 Edition)

Best apps for Paris travel: why you need them
Paris is one of the most well connected and walkable cities we have ever been to. We learned a ton on our last few trips here, and these are some of our favorite apps for Paris travel to help with getting around, using the metro, making reservations, and finding things to do! While you COULD just try to wing it without these, these apps can save you a ton of time and hopefully avoid a few mistakes along the way.
This list of the best apps for Paris travel is current as of 2025, as Paris has recently made some updates to the metro ticketing system that you need to know for your trip. Hope these are helpful!
If you’re still in the stages of planning and booking, be sure to check out my post on best places to stay in Paris with family (or groups!).
1. Maps and More: Best Apps for Getting Around Paris (and Beyond)
Google Maps
Google maps is our personal favorite for navigating any city. If you have a google account you can flag places you want to visit with notes, which is so handy for researching. We use it to map places to see, eat, and even our hotel.
When you’re navigating, hit “directions” before you start and it will show you the exact routes via every mode of transportation. This was SO handy when navigating the metro, as it tells you everything you need to know about where to walk, which stop to take, and even which exit to take to get out of the metro onto the street.

City Mapper
Another great option for navigating any city! It has every option for mode of transportation, maps, and more.
Rome 2 Rio
Rome 2 Rio is my go-to when I’m planning my itinerary for a big trip. You can plug in literally any location worldwide and it will tell you all of the possible routes you can take.
2. Best Apps for Paris Metro and RER trains
Île-de-France Mobilities
This is the most important app for using the Paris Metro and is definitely a must have apps for Paris travel. If you have an iPhone, you can add this to your apple wallet before you go! As of 2025, the Metro no longer issues single use paper tickets for the metro, so you either need to use your phone to scan as your ticket or spend 2 Euro for a plastic, reuseable one.
Each person needs their own, so if you’re traveling with kids over the age of 4, they will need their own plastic ticket for the metro.
These tickets are what you can use for both the metro and the RER trains, which take you outside of Paris. RER is what you would use to get to the airport, Disney, or Versailles from the City.
Bonjour RATP
This is another great option for navigating the Paris public transportation system. This offers even more accurate wait times, navigation, ticketing, and more!
How to buy Metro Tickets
At every metro station, they have a window with an attendant that usually speaks English to help with questions and ticket purchases. If you have the Île-de-France Mobilities App or the Bonjour RATP app, you can purchase tickets ahead of time. If you have to use the reuseable card for any little travelers, you can reload it at the kiosks at the station or with the attendant.
3. Paris official taxis and Rideshares
G7- Official Paris Taxi
G7 is the official taxi of Paris and I wish they had them everywhere! They are wonderful, we don’t use anything else when we visit and need a car. The taxis are all black and usually Mercedes or something similar. The drivers are professional, and they can be hailed from the airport taxi stand. The app works exactly like Uber, so download it before you go and add your payment card ahead of time. All payment is through the app.
The G7 taxi app is great as well. They offer tons of options for types of vehicle, and even have options if you need a car with boosters or car seats. We used the app to schedule our taxi for the morning of our departing flight, and the driver was punctual.
One major perk of using G7 is that they can use the taxi lanes when uber or other rideshare companies cannot.
Uber
Uber is available in Paris, but why would you use it if you can use G7? We have not used it in Paris for all of the above reasons. Additionally, taxis in Paris follow strict pricing guidelines so their rates are lower.
Lime
Last time we visited, we saw lime bikes and scooters all over the city! These can be rented at various places around the Paris and would be a great option if you’re not traveling with kids.
4. Best Apps for Booking Food & Making Reservations
Paris dining tips: make reservations if there is a place you really want to try! Most kitchens don’t open until 7pm, and if you don’t have a reservation some will be able to give you a table at the last minute.
The Fork (Le Forchette)
The fork is kind of like the Yelp for Paris if you’re looking for a good place to eat. It’s recommended and used by Parisians to make reservations, see reviews, and check out menus before you go.
Google Search
If you have a specific place in mind, Google is also a great place to easily make online reservations for places to eat as well. If you look up a place to eat, you can easily make a reservation from the google search page.
5. Best Apps for Paris Tours & Things To Do
Paris is a city that is best enjoyed if you book as much as possible in advance. If there’s anything you don’t want to miss, book it early! We booked about one big activity per day, because we found that rushing from one activity to another is much less enjoyable then walking through the city to explore, see the architecture, and people watch.
Tours
Get Your Guide
Some of the best parts of our last trips were because of a great local tour guide. They have everything from food tours to scavenger hunts for kids and so much more!

Trip Advisor
This is another great option and familiar place to start for finding the perfect tour for your next trip!

Le Walk (FREE!)
I found this app before our last trip to Paris and it’s awesome! Bring your headphones and walk around different neighborhoods or landmarks while it gives you a personal audio tour.
Destination Specific Apps
Disney
If you’re heading to Disney Paris, this app is a must! Manage your tickets, check ride times, use the map, and even purchase fast passes for individual rides on the app.
Reservations for dining at Disney are just as serious as reservations for places in the city. If you have a specific place in mind you want to go for dinner, dining reservations open 60 days in advance.
Notre Dame
This app is the only way to make a timed (free) ticket reservation to visit Notre Dame. They also list events on the app that will be held at the church here! On our last visit, we were able to get tickets to see Mozart’s Requiem performed by candlelight inside the church, so it’s worth checking.
6. Best Translation & Communication Apps
Pimsleur- BEST language Learning App
After trying (and failing) to learn different languages for longer than I’d like to admit, Pimsleur has by far been my favorite way to learn basic phrases before I travel. You will be speaking on day 1!

google Translate
This is another must have app for Paris travel from the google suite. The google lens is really handy for reading menus that aren’t in English. You can also type in phrases to practice ahead of time or translate in real time.
Say Hi
Say Hi is a great translation app for real time conversations. Just press start and the person you’re talking to can speak into it and it’ll translate back and forth for you.
7. Helpful Apps for Everyday Paris Travel Needs
Flush-Toilet finder App
There is an app for finding the nearest public bathroom in Paris, called Flush-Toilet Finder. In Paris, a lot of small businesses don’t offer public restrooms. If you’re walking around in the city all day, you might see free standing public restrooms that are free to use. They are relatively clean and also have a place to fill your water on the outside.
In other places, you will have to pay 1 Euro to use a public, serviced toilet. They only accept cash, so it is a good idea to always have a few Euro on hand for this.
Where to Refill Your Water Bottle
If you also travel with an “emotional support” refillable water bottle, you can use Paris en Poche, RefillMyBottle, or Google Maps search to find places to fill it. If you’re brave, you can fill it next to the free public toilets as well.
Weather Apps
Paris weather can be VERY unpredictable at any time of year. Make sure you always check the weather to be prepared for whatever weather is expected. Météo-France, Wunderground, or Apple Weather are my favorites for weather.
8. Final Tip: Download Before You Go
Create a folder on your home screen to store all Paris specific apps! The last thing you want is to be searching for something as you’re walking around or trying to converse with someone.
